Cat Collage – Paper

Level 1- Will need assistance tracing, cutting and glueing. They can indicate their choices by pointing, using a dauber or marking with a crayon.

Level 2 – can trace, cut, assemble, glue to make cat doll and the cat card.

Level 3-  can trace, cut, assemble, glue for the doll and for the card. They can also choose to design their own clothes-rather than using the printed paper- by providing them with construction paper.

Option: use colored construction paper for the clothes, if students don’t want to use the printed pattern paper.

These are for practice drawing symmetrical sides, coloring and cutting out.

Actually all the pieces can be folded in half and used on folded paper. There is usually a center dotted line for this. Or you can simply use the pieces folded flat, trace and then cut out. The students can ideally draw the missing symmetrical side, then cut out and color.

This project is inspired by a collage by Mr. Ellie Pooh, who creates animal designs out sells and produces 100-percent recycled paper products made of 50-percent fiber from elephant dung and 50-percent post-consumer paper. His products create Fair Trade Jobs. Do you have recyclable paper scraps you can use in this project?
