Learning to Identify Colors-Paper and Crayons- 4 SPED and ESL Activities

This is 4 color, cut and paste activities. (Aide assistance required)

It’s easy to recognize colors and learn their names by looking at a colorful multi-colored collage paper and associate colors with the written names that are on the “Color Board.“ In all cases, students will be guided by an aide – to learn the colors by name and recognizing the written name.

Each activity has a written page of directions.

Materials Needed:

1. Copies,

2. Scissors,

4. Crayons,

5. Glue

1. Students (learning to use scissors) will cut out freeform shapes from the color collage and glue them into place on the “Color Board” by recognizing the written name.(red shape = “red” place on board.

2. Students who can use scissors, will first cut shapes from a template, then trace each shape onto the color collage. One shape for one color. After cutting out the colored shapes they just traced, they will glue them to the right spot on the color board with help from an aide.
3. Students learning to color and cut with scissors will color the circles and triangles worksheet with crayons on the shapes with specific written color names. They will then cut them out- with plenty of circles and triangles for practice. Finally they will glue one blue circle and one green triangle into place on the “Large Flower” page. They will also color the flower stem green to finish their artwork. The petals can be left white or colored.

4. Students will color the 5 circles and 1 triangle worksheet with crayons – just like the previous flower activity only now a bit smaller. There are plenty of circles and triangles for practice on the worksheet. When finished coloring, students will cut them out. They will then glue one red, yellow, blue, orange and purple circle into the middle circle of each flower on the Flower Garden worksheet. The flower petals can be left white or students can color them if they want. They will glue the green triangles into place. Finally they will color the stems green.
